Cyber Bullying dictionary

Parents can use this cyber bullying dictionary to understand some of the slang, acronyms and language now be used online by a bully.

It is estimated 80% of North America is online... Me, I am still trying to figure out facebook...I know alot of parents are in the same situation.

That is why I have developed a dictionary to help us understand the vast differences between online and offline words and acronyms.

I plan to update and add to the words here often and hope those who are more tech savvy will leave their valuable insights and understanding as well. 

Cyber bullying Dictionary of acronyms

BTW= by the way

SMH: shaking my head

FB= Facebook

IMO= in my opinion

TBH= to be honest

LULZ= laughter at someone elses expense

LOL= laugh out loud

LMAO= laugh my *ss off

HMU: hit me up

LG= Little Girl

WBU: What is bugging you?

OMG: Oh my God !! usually indicating disbelief or shock

FOMO= fear of missing out (on a party or       information)

JK/JKS=Just kidding or jokes

ROFL= rolling on the floor laughing

WTF= What the *uck?

YOLO: You only live once

IRL= In real life as opposed to what happens online

A/S/L= Short hand for age/sex/location

CUL8R= See you later

 meanings of cyber-lingo  

Flaming: refers to the use of rude/slang/hurtful/ inappropriate language causing a conversation/ interaction between internet users to get side tracked.

Bate/Bating: used as an abbreviation to mean masterbate or masturbation

Cam Up: turn on your webcam so people can see u

Bait/Baiting: not to be confused with above (bate/bateing) Luring someone by using a means suited to the target. (a cute guys picture used to attract young girls)

Lurker: Someone who secretly "creeps" in the back ground of a chat room or forum but does not engage.

Dick pic: Can you guess. yep... a photo or male the male penus

Flash: Same as offline to quickly show a body part 

Sexting: sending sexually explicit messages or images by cell phone or other techie device

Capper: Someone who screen captures images and videos from chat rooms and apps.

Lemming: A term used to describe someone who follows without thinking for themselves.

Hebephilia: Adult sexual attraction to adolescents

Cheese Pizza: Child pornography which is illegal and should be known as child sexual abuse images.(if this is what you are into...Get off my website!!)

White Hat: Hackers who work for the benefit of everyone

Black Hat: Hackers who destroy, hurt and cause havoc just because they can.

Troll: a prankster who posts intentionally provocative material to cause maximum disruption.

Viral: the rapid upload and sharing of Internet information, photos, videos etc.

Slut-shaming: Broadly used to denigrate women for expressing sexuality but online it is more related to negative sexual characteristics to an individual and shaming them.

Pedophile: Adult attracted to pre-teen children 13 years old or younger. (Seriously, get off my website if this describes you)

Selfie: A photo of yourself in the moment and uploaded to a social media website

Sextortion: A blackmailer catches a screen shot of an inapropriate flash or worse and promises to share it online unless the victim provides more explicit pictures or performs sexual acts.

Just in case you were wondering??

Yes, your kid probably knows these and WAAAAYYYY more ! I was really shocked as I did the research. I asked my 13 year old about some of the more scarey stuff and she said. "ah, yah...of course I know about that" There are a lot more cyber threats than bullying.

Is this a complete cyber bullying dictionary? NOPE afraid not. You can ask your child...great way to start a conversation. You can do a search online. Just make sure it is a reliable source. You are welcome to explore this site for more cyber bullying information..
