Together can find a solution that will help your child and make the bullying stop.
It is important when determining possible bullying solutions that you consider all aspects of the bullying. For example if your child is called names on the play ground it does not make sense to call the police… However, if your child has been assaulted and it is not the first time and probably won’t be the last…perhaps calling the police is necessary.
To assist in deciding the most appropriate solutions I have developed the 3 levels of bullying.
I believe this issue requires our attention regardless of what level as every bullying situation is different.
Most people have bullying beliefs that prevent us from taking action. Perhaps you believe bullying is a normal part of growing up. I am hoping with the development of these levels of bullying Parents will be able to make informed decisions about whether or not they should get involved and what they can do at each stage to help.
Remember, these are only guidelines. Your child may be targeted and quickly the bully jumps to level three. Your child may experience depression and anxiety at level one. Every child deals with challenges very differently. It is important we as parents watch for warning signs.
The Solutions suggested are just that…suggestions.
Everyone one of them has been used successfully. AND, a lot of them have been used and made matters worse. Use the problem solving process and be quick to change your tact if you determine the solution you try is not working.
The Bullying has just begun. At Level one you may or may not be concerned but it is good to start putting supports in place.
as this may be just the beginning.
Perhaps you did not recognize it at level one or the solutions did not work. Level two is an escalation. The bullying has gone on for awhile and is starting to really effect your child.
Possible Bullying Solutions
Keep trying Bullying Solutions....until the bullying Stops. Keep working with your child. They will know they are not alone and by staying connected with them you will better be able to monitor the impact the bullying has on them.
